Going on Summer Holiday? Don’t Forget Your Skincare!

Summer means holidays, vacations, days on the road, and that naturally raises the question of, How do we take our skincare with us? Whether we’re flying somewhere or taking the car or going camping, here are seven products that are travel-friendly and make it easy to care for skin!

travel skincare dr dream banila co

Banila Co, Clean It Zero

This solid oil-based cleanser is great for travel because it’s, well, not a liquid. That means it can go through TSA security without problems and, even better, that it removes the potential for drippy messes from cleansing! If you’re camping, you probably don’t want to be running the risk of an oil cleanser running everywhere, and the Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm is super easy to use—just scoop (using the handy spatula) onto your hands and let the warmth of your face melt the balm into an oil and sweep away all your makeup and oil-based impurities. Make sure to add water to wash everything away before moving on to your second-step, water-based cleanser.

Dr. Rose Line Mild Natured Powder Cleanser

This powder cleanser also clears TSA security readily and reduces the risk of your cleanser exploding or squeezing open in your bag somewhere. Free of preservatives and sulfates, the Rose Line Mild Natured Powder Cleanser both effectively cleanses and helps nourish skin, and it’s super easy to use. Just shake a spoonful’s worth onto your hands and mix with water, lathering it up in your hands before massaging onto damp skin.

Our special tip? This cleanser can also pull double-duty as an exfoliator! If your skin feels in need of some mild exfoliation, use less water with this powder cleanser! With less water, the powder won’t lather into a foam but will retain some of the powdery grit that’s perfect for some super gentle physical exfoliation.

travel skincare the pure lotus peach and lily

Peach & Lily, Lazy Day All-in-One Moisture Pads

Why carry three products when you can carry one? The Peach & Lily Lazy Day All-in-One Moisture Pads are a toner, serum, and moisturizer in one! These pads are made from a soft cotton blend and have been soaked in a blend of super vegetable and fruit extracts, so it’s like applying the healthiest green juice to your face. Because these Lazy Day Pads are pre-soaked, they’re also TSA-friendly and so convenient to apply — after cleansing, take a pad, swipe it all over your face, and pat any excess liquid in.

The Pure Lotus, Lotus Leaf Extract Sleeping Pack

If your skin is in need of a boost, the Lotus Leaf Extract Sleeping Pack goes to work while you sleep. At 70 ml, it’s TSA-friendly, and the twist cap (as opposed to a pump) and sturdy packaging make it travel-friendly with less risk for mess. The sleeping pack has a light texture that sinks into skin, helping deliver deep hydration and relieve tired and stressed skin, so you can wake up glowing, ready for your next day of travel.

travel skincare peach slices aromatica

Aromatica, Rose Absolute Eye Cream

Don’t forget your eye cream! Holidays, while exciting, can also be tiring, and an eye cream can help your eye area look more awake. The Rose Absolute Eye Cream is water-free, formulated with a base of aloe and fortified with Bulgarian rose oil and organic Argan oil to help hydrate the eye area. Niacinamide helps brighten, so this eye cream can help keep those dark circles and shadows away.

Jelly Bounce Lip Balm, Cherry

Lips have no sweat glands or oil glands of their own, so they can be easily prone to drying out, chapping, and, even, peeling. The Peach Slices Jelly Bounce Lip Balm in Cherry is a juicy, delectable way to keep lips hydrated no matter where you go!

Travel Sheet Mask

You really can sheet mask everywhere, and Peach Slices has a sheet mask specially formulated to meet the concerns of tired and/or jet-lagged skin. The natural cotton sheet mask is soaked in a unique blend of bamboo water, centella asiatica extract, ginger root extract, aloe, and ceramides to help hydrate, calm, and recharge skin. Take one or ten with you, and sheet mask while waiting for a flight, chilling in the back seat of a long drive, or lounging by a campfire after a hike.

We hope that helps give you some ideas for travel-friendly skincare! Tell us in the comments below — where are you headed this summer?

Happy Fourth!

We’re a day early, but Happy Fourth!

We feel like the Fourth of July really kicks off summer because it gets us in holiday-mode, and, when we think of summer, we think of vacations and weekends at the beach and outdoor barbecues. Of course, here at Pibuu, we’re also thinking of skincare and how to keep skin at its healthiest during these hot summer months, especially when we’re outdoors and in the sun.

Here are five ways to care for your skin during these summer holidays!

SPF!

This is a no-brainer! Sunscreen is one of the key ways to protect your sun from the UVA/UVB rays that can harm skin. It might seem like a chore, but find a sunscreen you like and just get into the habit of applying it as the last step of your routine in the morning — then re-applying every few hours throughout the day.

Recommended product: the Village 11 Factory Daily Mild Sun Cream applies easily, doesn’t leave a whitecast, and protects your skin from both UVA/UVB rays!

Keep Skin Clean!

Sweating is unavoidable in the summer, but it can actually be great for skin because sweat can help remove impurities and bad bacteria from skin. (It’s why spas have steam rooms and saunas!) The potential negative effect of sweat, though, is when that sweat, full of those same impurities and bad bacteria, sits on your skin and dries down as you cool off. That’s why we like carrying around little cleansing cloths to swipe away that sweat throughout the day!

Recommended Product: Ariul’s Stress Relieving Purefull Cleansing Tissues gently remove impurities and help refresh skin. They do remove makeup, though, so please keep that in mind!

Protect Your Lips!

Lips don’t have oil glands or sweat glands, so they can get dry and flaky in the hot summer weather. If you’re constantly licking your lips, that can make lips feel even drier and possibly make them peel. Carry your favorite lip balm around with you to give your lips the hydration, nourishment, and protection they need wherever you go!

Recommended Products: the Peach & Lily K-Beauty Rescue Balm is great not only for lips but also for dry patches, ashy elbows, cuticles, flyaways, everywhere on skin from head to toe, basically! Any of the Peach Slices Beary Lip Balms are also great for lips—and they’re just so ridiculously cute.

Moisturize!

The type of moisturizer you use during the summer may vary depending on the climate you’re in. If you’re in a more humid climate, it might be tempting to skip your moisturizer because it’s another layer to apply to skin, but don’t! Opt for something lightweight instead, that absorbs into skin and gives it that protective occlusive barrier to help keep hydration in skin. If you’re in a drier climate, you might want something that’s heavier, more like a cream; look for one that’s super-absorbent and hydrating.

Recommended Products: we love the Peach Slices Citrus-Honey Aqua Glow as a lightweight, gel moisturizer in humid weather and for oily-to-combination skin. For drier skin types or those in drier climates, the Peach & Lily Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream absorbs quickly and hydrates deeply.

Mist!

Korean facial mists aren’t just water in a nice spray form; the formulas are actually packed with hydrating, nourishing ingredients. Misting is an easy way to cool skin down and give it a burst of hydration—just hold the mist about a foot away from your face, spritz evenly all over, and pat the excess into your skin!

Recommend Product: The Pure Lotus’ Lotus Leaf & Lemon Mist not only hydrates, it also helps fight free radical damage and brighten, thanks to lemon peel oil!

Happy 4th, everyone!

The 30 Day Glass Skin Challenge: Real People, Real Results

In May, we invited roughly 50 people with different skin tones and different skin types to take part in our 30-Day Glass Skin Challenge — use our Glass Skin Refining Serum every day for 30 days and take photos to capture how Glass Skin changes skin. We wanted to get honest opinions and an honest look at how Glass Skin works to help transform skin.

That means that none of the participants of our study had used Glass Skin before. Many of them hadn’t even heard of Peach & Lily, and no one was affiliated with or connected to Peach & Lily. No one was paid, though each participant received a free Glass Skin Refining Serum.

We gave all our participants the same parameters:

  1. Use Glass Skin every day, morning and evening, for 30 days.
  2. Apply Glass Skin as the first step in your routine, right after cleansing.
  3. Take a photograph with no filters and no fancy lighting. Try to take all photos in the same place at the same time.
  4. Follow Glass Skin with the rest of your routine.
  5. Write down a few notes and observations.

We’re excited to share the results with you! All the photos were self-taken by the participants, and nothing has been Photoshopped or edited. Here are their results after one day, one week, two weeks, three weeks, and one month of use!

First Day Of Use

Generally, people found the Glass Skin Serum to be lightweight and fast-absorbing, leaving no residue behind. Most found that they enjoyed the lack of scent and clean texture, and many shared that Glass Skin left their skin feeling softer than before, even with just one day’s use.

EVE noticed a more plump appearance, her lines looking less visible. Her skin also felt “hydrated more than ever before.”

ANNIE was impressed by how long Glass Skin kept her skin hydrated. Typically, her skin is very dry, feeling “super chalky and almost scaley.” Using Glass Skin, however, really helped hydrate and help her skin look and feel smoother.

STEPHANIE has super dry skin; she writes that, even with one use, her skin felt like it was “getting a drink of water.”

After One Week

People started noticing significantly more hydration and reduced dryness. Skin started to look more even in tone, and bumps were starting to go away. Some started to see that their pores appeared less visible.

ROOPAL noted that “pores around nose are decreasing.” Skin also felt softer.

The texture on SAMANTHA’s cheeks was visibly much smoother with reduced redness.

After Two Weeks

After two weeks passed, people started getting compliments from friends and coworkers. Skin started to look brighter with a more lit-from-within glow, and it started to feel softer and smoother. Dry spots also started to go away as skin was more evenly, sufficiently hydrated.

ARCHANA noted that her skin was “noticeably softer and brighter.” Her breakouts had gone down and no longer looked red or inflamed.

CAROLINE saw reduced redness and visibly plumped skin.

ALIVIA saw more brightness around her eye area and smoother texture overall.

The texture on the side of PHYLLIS’ face started to look much smoother.

After Three Weeks

Three weeks of consistent use started to reduce the appearance of pores as skin looked visibly firmer and more plumped up. Skin also felt markedly softer and smoother, with deeper hydration helping skin look dewier and more radiant.

People kept asking MORGAN is she was “pregnant because my skin is ‘glowing!'”

PUJA saw “all around improvement,” so much that her sister noticed. She wrote that “blemishes are lighter, [and] skin is much more glowy.”

ZINA’s skin looked more even and brighter with reduced redness and less visible fine lines.

After Thirty Days

After one month, the effect of Glass Skin on the appearance of skin was much more obvious. Consistent use  showed that skin was more deeply hydrated with a smoother appearance. Dark spots appeared lighter, and skin tone, in general, looked more even and consistent. Pores even looked much smaller.

JENNIFER’s skin looked more even and felt smoother.

MONICA saw her pores look smaller and said that the lines under eyes looked more plumped up.

IZZY’s skin looked brighter and more even, especially around her eye area.

Conclusion

Overall, after a month of using the Glass Skin Refining Serum every day for 30 days, people found that they had a better idea of what glass skin actually looks like because they were able to see results with the Glass Skin Refining Serum. Glass skin is healthy, hydrated skin, and our participants found that Glass Skin really shows visible effects, especially with consistent use.

We’d love to encourage you to try our 30 Glass Skin Challenge as well! Whether you’re new to Glass Skin or not, document your skin journey with Glass Skin over 30 days, and share your results with us, using our hashtag, #GlassSkinGoals!

Happy Birthday, Glass Skin!

Hi Peaches!

I can’t believe it’s been one year since we launched our Glass Skin Refining Serum. My biggest hope when developing this serum was to create a toxin-free, high-performance, delightful product that would make it easy for all of you to achieve your best skin yet. Essentially, that means skin that appears so poreless, luminous, and translucent, it looks like a crystal-clear pane of glass — hence, glass skin

Over the last year, we’ve heard from so many of you saying, “Oh my gosh, I have glass skin now!” We love hearing your stories because everything we do here at Peach & Lily is for you. You’re the most important people in the room, and we’re always thinking about all the ways we can better help meet your skin needs.

That’s why it’s the most rewarding thing for us when you show us your love and support. Over the past year, you’ve been pouring out your love for our Glass Skin Refining Serum, sending us DMs and e-mails and leaving enthusiastic reviews on our site. Every single comment has truly brought a smile to our face; it’s been so humbling to be able to see your skin transform into what looks like glass skin.

And what better way to celebrate a year filled with love than by giving love back?

As you may know, for the last four years, we’ve been partnering with Restore NYC to contribute to their cause: rescuing and restoring sex-trafficked women right here in NYC. We’ve had the privilege to meet some of these women, and their stories of resilience and restoration are inspiring and humbling.

We want to build a more beautiful community by making a difference where we can. Today, we’d like to invite each of you to do good while looking good.

To wish Glass Skin a happy first birthday, we will be donating $50,000 of net proceeds of the Glass Skin Serum! That means we’ll be donating 100% of all proceeds from the Glass Skin Serum until we reach $50,000!

Help us spread the word — not only will your friends love the Glass Skin Serum, but they can also know that they are making a profound difference in the lives of so many women.

Thank you for a year of loving our Glass Skin, and here’s to many more! Cheers to radiance!

3 of Our Favorite Things: Solid Oil-Based Cleansers.

You know we’re all about the double cleansing technique. Start with an oil-based cleanser to remove your makeup and oil-based impurities, and follow that with a water-based cleanser to sweep away sweat, dirt, and other water-based impurities.

Cleansers can come in different textures, from oils to gels to foams, amongst others, and there’s no “best” among them — it’s really about finding the cleansers that work for you and your skin. Certain textures do play better with different skin types; for example, a foaming cleanser might be too drying for dry skin but great for oily skin, while a gel cleanser might be great for normal to dry skin but too light for oily skin.

We recommend the double cleansing technique, whatever your skin type! Whether you have oily skin or dry skin or sensitive skin, the double cleansing technique gives skin the gentle but thorough treatment that helps it thrive by sweeping away bad oils and impurities without disrupting the balance of oils, good bacteria, and fatty acids that help protect skin. Here are three of our favorite first-step oil-based cleansers that come in solid form.

OIL-BASED CLEANSER PEACH SLICES

Peach Slices, Peach Pudding Makeup Cleanser

Key benefits: soothing, hydrating, cooling
Key ingredients: jojoba and macadamia oil, peach extract

The Peach Slices Peach Pudding Makeup Cleanser has a delightful, bouncy texture. It melts onto skin upon contact, dissolving makeup and impurities away gently without stripping skin dry, and all it takes are a few splashes of water to rinse everything — cleanser, makeup, impurities — off skin. There’s no dripping, no mess, no oily residue, just clean, hydrated skin.

OIL-BASED CLEANSER BANILA CO

Banila Co, Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm

Key benefits: hydrating, calming
Key ingredients: bamboo extract, acerola extract, onsen water

Fun fact? Every three seconds, someone buys a Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm. Other fun fact? There are actually four different versions of this — Original for all skin types, Purifying for sensitive skin, Nourishing for dry skin, and Revitalizing for oily/combination skin.

All four versions come as a solid balm and with a spatula to make it easy to scoop the Cleansing Balm out onto your hand. The balm becomes a soft, warm oil as you massage it against your skin, working on even the most stubborn, waterproof makeup and sweeping away impurities. When you add water, the balm emulsifies into a soft lather, and skin is left clean and hydrated.

OIL-BASED CLEANSER FEMMUE

Femmue, Extraordinary Beauty Cleansing Balm

Key benefits: lightweight, soothing, no synthetic fragrance
Key ingredients: olive oil, rosehip oil, sunflower seed oil, rose extract

The Femmue Extraordinary Beauty Cleansing Balm starts as a smooth jelly texture, transforming into a silky, luxurious oil as you massage it against skin. The oil is warming, helping open up pores for a deeper, more thorough cleanse. When you add water, the oil turns into a milky texture that washes easily off skin, leaving no residue and sweeping away excess oil and impurities.

These are just three oil-based cleansers in solid form that we particularly love, but there are so many others out there. Remember to follow up with your favorite water-based cleanser to get that thorough but gentle cleanse that doesn’t disrupt your skin’s natural barrier and leaves skin clean, hydrated, and supple.

Tell us in the comments below! What are you favorite solid oil-based cleansers?

Glass Skin and Pure Beam, A Dream Pair.

June is the one-year birthday of the Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum, but it’s also Acne Awareness Month. Glass Skin, in and of itself, can help with acne-prone skin by deeply hydrating and helping calm inflammation, but it also plays well with other products to help prevent acne and balance skin.

In particular, Glass Skin pairs well with the Peach & Lily Pure Beam Luxe Oil, a blend of six plant-based, cold-pressed oils (and vitamin E).

Right off the bat, we’re sure you’re wondering:

Why are you recommending an oil, even for acne-prone skin?

It might seem counterintuitive because excess oil can contribute to clogged pores and, ultimately, to acne. It’s true that there are bad oils that can do just that, but there are also good oils that can actually help balance skin, regulate excess sebum production, and properly hydrate skin. There are a few ways oils can do that.

Studies show that the sebum of people with acne-prone skin tends to be thicker and stickier than “normal” sebum, and that texture can contribute to clogged pores. This thicker, stickier sebum is higher in oleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid that’s heavy and super occlusive, so it can block the entrance to pores, trapping oil and bacteria inside.

One way to help balance sebum and make it thinner in texture is to introduce more linoleic acid. Topically, you can do that by using a facial oil that is higher in linoleic acid, an unsaturated fatty acid that helps thin out the thick, sticky sebum common to acne-prone skin. Oils like grape seed oil, safflower seed oil, and rosehip oil, amongst others, are high in linoleic content.

Another way to help balance sebum production is by using oils that mimic the molecular structure of human sebum. These oils can “trick” sebaceous glands into thinking they’ve produced enough, thus helping stop the excess production of sebum. Jojoba oil, squalane, and sea buckthorn oil are examples of these kinds of balancing oils.

How often should I use a facial oil?

Every day if you’d like! We recommend using just 1-3 drops — a little bit of oil tends to go a long way. You can either apply it directly to skin after you apply your serums/ampoules, or you can mix it into your moisturizer.

glass skin refining serum pure beam luxe oil acne

Why are you recommending these two products?

If the Glass Skin Refining Serum helps provide skin with essential nutrients and antioxidants, the Pure Beam Luxe Oil helps provide skin with essential lipids.

Pure Beam contains only seven ingredients: jojoba oil, squalane, grape seed oil, camellia japonica seed oil, sea buckthorn oil, olus oil, and vitamin E. Let’s break down a few of the main oils.

  1. Jojoba oil is technically a wax, but it’s liquid at room temperature. It’s similar to human sebum, so it can help balance sebum production. It’s also high in vitamins and antioxidants, and it has natural antimicrobial qualities, which makes it good for acne-prone skin. It’s also suitable for sensitive skin.
  2. Squalane is a naturally-occurring substance in our bodies, though it’s called “squalene” in the body. Squalene, however, is unstable and will oxidize when exposed to air, but squalane, a byproduct of squalene, is highly stable. It’s non-comedogenic (aka doesn’t clog pores) and readily absorbs into skin, helping support the natural skin barrier.
  3. Grape seed oil is high in linoleic acid, which helps thin out the thicker, stickier sebum common to acne-prone skin types. It is also non-comedogenic.
  4. Camellia japonica seed oil is also known as tsubaki oil, which is rich in oleic acid and vitamins A, D, and E. It is a lightweight, dry oil that is non-comedogenic, and it contains more antioxidants than any other botanically-derived oil. It helps soften skin, and its molecular structure means it absorbs quickly into skin.
  5. Sea buckthorn oil is an incredible source of the rare omega-7, an essential fatty acid that helps skin retain its firmness. It also helps balance sebum production, and it has natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities that make it particularly good for acne-prone skin.

All the oils in Pure Beam are plant-based and cold-pressed, and, altogether, it helps balance skin, whether by hydrating dry skin, helping regulate sebum production in oily skin, or boosting the natural skin barrier. An intact skin barrier is key to healthy skin because it helps skin retain hydration, nutrients, and balance. That, in turn, can help stave off breakouts and calm acne-prone skin.

Of course, this pairing is also great for all skin types! Together, Glass Skin and Pure Beam work together beautifully to help provide skin with all the essential nutrients, hydrators, and lipids it needs to thrive, helping you get closer to the glass skin of your dreams, skin that is so healthy and hydrated it appears poreless, luminous, and translucent.

We hope that was helpful! If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below!

Five Ways to Help Dry Skin.

Summer can mean different things for skin depending on your skin type and the climate you live in. In more humid climates, skin, especially dry skin, can get support from the extra moisture in the air, but more arid climates combined with summer heat can exacerbate dry skin. Sometimes, dry skin is just dry skin.

Whatever the season and climate, here are five tips to help dry skin.

Avoid hot baths and showers.

Also, avoid using cold water to wash your face (and cold baths and showers) — basically, try to avoid extreme temperatures of either kind; they can dry skin out further. When washing, use warm water and keep things short. Exposing skin to water for too long can also aggravate skin.

dry skin exfoliator

Exfoliate regularly.

Skin, like all the cells in our body, is constantly generating new cells, pushing dead cells to the surface of skin where they will ideally fall away naturally. Unfortunately, sometimes, dead skin cells accumulate on skin’s surface instead, which can make skin appear dull, feel flaky and itchy, and make it difficult for products to absorb fully into skin.

Exfoliating helps slough those dead skin cells away. There are two types of exfoliators — physical, where you use a scrub or a towel to remove the surface layer of dead skin cells, and chemical, where you use acids (AHAs, BHAs, PHAs) to help “unglue” dead skin cells from the surface of skin. We recommend chemical exfoliators over physical ones because the latter can sometimes be too abrasive and can even cause micro-tears or micro-abrasions in skin. (Read more about exfoliators here!)

Whether you’re new to chemical exfoliators or a seasoned expert, we recommend the Peach & Lily Super Reboot Resurfacing Mask; it was formulated with sensitive skin in mind; so it is super gentle but also highly effective with 10% AHA and 0.5% BHA. Start by using it once every 2 weeks, leaving the mask on for 5-7 minutes. A minor tingling sensation is normal; that’s the mask working. We recommend slowly working up to using Super Reboot once every 10 days, then once a week, then no more than 2-3 times a week, eventually leaving it on for 10-20 minutes if your skin can tolerate it.

Apply products to damp skin.

Pat your skin dry after cleansing, wicking away excess water but not vigorously toweling until fully dry. Go straight into your skincare routine when your skin is still damp; this can help with absorption, as well as provide extra moisture for your products, particularly your moisturizer, to seal in.

essence dry skin

Layer on hydration — and don’t skip essence.

Instead of just using a thick moisturizer, you really want to be layering on hydration with every step of your routine.

Start with a gentle, hydrating cleanser that will cleanse away makeup, excess sebum, and impurities without disrupting your natural oils. When you have dry skin, it already does not produce enough sebum to hydrate skin sufficiently, so stripping skin of all its oils can only exacerbate the situation. We recommend avoiding foam cleansers, which can be more drying, and opting instead for gentle, hydrating gel cleansers (like the Shangpree S-Energy Cleansing Gel) — and, of course, double cleansing to remove makeup, excess oil, and other impurities gently but effectively.

As you go into your skincare routine, layer on hydration with each step — and don’t skip essence! An essence might be that missing step in your routine, and it’s a staple in Korean skincare for a reason. The primary task of an essence is to flood skin with hydration, helping prep it to absorb the products that come after, and make sure to follow your essence (like the Atoclassic Real Tonic Soothing Origin Essence) with a hydrating serum (like the Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum) and a hydrating moisturizer (like the Olivarrier Emollient Extra Comfort Cream).

Use a mist throughout the day for a spritz of hydration.

Korean facial mists aren’t simply water in a spray bottle; they’re serious formulas that contain hydrating, soothing ingredients and help give you that dewy (but not greasy) look. A facial mist can be incorporated into a skincare routine, or it can be used during the day whenever skin needs some refreshing.

If you have particularly dry skin, you may want to carry a facial mist around to give your skin a boost of hydration throughout the day as needed. Hold your mist (we like the Pure Lotus’ Lotus Leaf & Lemon Mist) 6-12 inches from your face, close your eyes, and spritz evenly over your face. Remember to pat the formula into skin.

(Fun fact: a facial mist can also be incorporated into a makeup routine to help veil skin in hydration and set makeup. Lagom’s Kowon Hye, a celebrity makeup artist, sprays the Lagom Cellus Mist Toner between every step of a makeup routine.)

We hope that helps! As always, leave any questions in the comments below!

Happy Birthday, Glass Skin!

It’s been a year since we launched our Glass Skin Refining Serum over on Peach & Lily! And what an exhilarating year it’s been!

So many people have written in to tell us how the Glass Skin Refining Serum has helped turn their skin around, and it’s been such a joy and privilege to read everyone’s stories. We truly believe that it’s such a unique product (we’re not just saying this!), and we’re so glad that people have fallen so in love that they’ve been purchasing their second, third, fourth bottles!

In celebration of its 1-year birthday, here are three things that make the Glass Skin Refining Serum truly unique and one-of-a-kind!

It’s full of beneficial ingredients that help nourish, hydrate, and protect skin.

One of the star ingredients is peach extract, a luxe superstar ingredient you won’t find in many skincare products because it’s not the easiest to extract. We were determined to include peach extract in our Glass Skin Refining Serum because we know how powerful an ingredient it is — it’s full of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals that really help nourish skin, helping provide the support skin needs to thrive.

Then, we added a slew of other beautiful ingredients, like madecassoside (soothing and healing properties), niacinamide (anti-inflammatory and brightening properties), and mountain yam extract (potent antioxidative properties). We also included our own proprietary hyaluronic acid complex to help hydrate to all layers of skin and our own proprietary peptide complex to help firm skin and minimize the appearance of pores.

All these ingredients together make a serum that really helps support skin, so it can have the appearance of glass — poreless, luminous, translucent.

It’s 100% worry-free!

There are over a thousand ingredients we don’t use; our Glass Skin Refining Serum is 100% toxin-free! (It’s also vegan and gluten-free. And cruelty-free.) That means it’s super gentle, appropriate for all skin types, and non-irritating!

glass skin glass skin refining serum

It absorbs quickly into skin and leaves no residue.

With a cooling, light gel texture, our Glass Skin Refining Serum simply sinks into skin, leaving behind no residue or stickiness, no matter how many layers you apply — sometimes, Peach & Lily founder and esthetician, Alicia Yoon, uses half a bottle during one facial! Skin just looks plumped and hydrated and, well, glassy, instead of looking greasy and feeling sticky or tacky. Of course, you don’t need to apply half a bottle in one application; we recommend 2-3 liberal pumps.

If you have time, give yourself a mini facial massage as you apply the Glass Skin Refining Serum — and don’t forget to massage it into your neck, too!

Thanks for all the love this past year!

Wedding Prep, Groom Edition.

Hello, grooms! You have your big day coming up, and maybe you’re thinking about your skin, maybe you’re not. We have a few basic tips we’d love to share, though, because your wedding is your big day, too!

Cleanse thoroughly — and gently.

You had to know we’d start with cleansing. Generally, thanks to higher levels of testosterone, male skin is thicker than female skin, and it’s also generally prone to produce more sebum that is also thicker in texture. That doesn’t mean you should be cleansing your skin to the point of it being squeak clean, all the oils swept away! We recommend a foam cleanser like Eco Your Skin’s Oil-to-Foam Cleanser, which combines both steps of a double cleanse (an oil-based cleanser, followed by a water-based cleanser) in one. It will cleanse skin thoroughly, sweeping away excess sebum and helping unclog pores (and, thus, helping prevent breakouts), all while keeping the natural skin barrier intact and skin hydrated.

Tone skin to balance skin.

A toner helps balance the pH level of skin after cleansing, getting skin back to its ideal range of 4.5 to 5.5 — skin likes to be slightly acidic to help good bacteria flourish while keeping bad bacteria away. That helps maintain general skin health, even helping prevent breakouts. Be the Skin’s Botanical Pore Toner is a classic, balancing skin’s pH level after cleansing with all-natural ingredients and botanical herbs, and we recommend it particularly for its ability to help balance sebum production. It contains witch hazel, a natural astringent, which helps soothe skin and combat breakouts, while brown algae extract helps nourish, hydrate, and soften skin.

Nourish and support.

Thanks to marketing, it’s easy to think of skincare as a gendered thing, but it’s not — skin is skin, and it’s still the largest organ in your body. As such, it should be nourished and supported with good products and ingredients, just like you’d nourish and support your body with good food and exercise. The Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum provides vitamins, fatty acids, and hydrators to help promote skin health, and it also helps even skin tone and protect skin from environmental stressors, thanks to its wealth of antioxidants. Most importantly (maybe), it has no scent and is easy to apply — pump it out onto your hand 2-3 times and apply all over skin. There’s no tackiness or residue or anything left behind, so it’s like you’ve applied nothing at all.

Moisturize!

A moisturizer delivers more hydration to skin and then seals everything in, reducing or slowing down transepidermal water loss. That means that, thanks to the occlusive barrier created by a moisturizer, your skin is better able to hold onto hydration instead of it potentially being pulled from your skin and lost into the environment. This is important because keeping skin sufficiently hydrated is an essential part of keeping skin happy and healthy! Proper hydration also helps manage sebum production — when skin is dehydrated, that can actually trigger more sebum production because skin starts compensating, thinking it needs more oil because it’s feeling parched.

A moisturizer helps balance sebum production by locking hydration into skin, and we recommend opting for something lightweight. The Be the Skin Botanical Moisturizing Soothing Cream is in the same line as the Botanical Pore Toner mentioned above, and it’s a cooling gel texture that absorbs quickly into skin.

Don’t forget to apply sunscreen.

Sun damage is real! And it happens to all of us. The main thing with sunscreen, we think, is to find a sunscreen that works for you, one you’ll be happy to apply everyday — and reapply throughout the day. We think the Village 11 Factory Daily Mild Sun Cream is perfect for that; it absorbs quickly into skin and leaves no white cast or residue behind. You won’t look like a ghost, and you’ll be well-protected from the sun.
